Lucky Bamboo is native to Cameroon in western Africa. It is a perennial evergreen plant of the Liliaceae and is mainly used as a potted ornamental plant with high ornamental value. Now I will introduce the cultivation method of Lucky Bamboo for everyone.

1. Soil culture of Lucky Bamboo

Lucky Bamboo likes high temperature, humidity, waterlogging, and cold resistance; it likes a half shade environment. It is suitable to grow in well-drained sandy soil or semi-silt sand and alluvial clay. The suitable growth temperature is 20-28℃, and it can withstand low temperature of 2-3℃, but it must be protected from frost in winter. The summer and autumn seasons of high temperature and humidity are very beneficial to the growth of rich bamboo and are the best period for its growth. It does not have strict requirements for light, and is suitable for growth under bright scattered light. Excessive light and sun exposure will cause the leaves to turn yellow, chlorosis, and slow growth.

During the growing season, the soil should be kept moist, and the leaves should be sprayed or sprinkled with water to increase the humidity of the air; in case of heavy rain, the accumulated water should be drained to prevent lodging. Pay attention to cold and frost in winter. The leaves will turn yellow and wither or even fall when the temperature is below 10°C. At this time, the soil should not be dry, nor should it be too wet. Reduce watering and stop fertilizing.

2. Hydroponic cultivation of Lucky Bamboo
Lucky Bamboo is one of the most suitable plants for hydroponic culture. It is widely planted by thousands of households and is planted by water-insertion method. It is easy to take root and is relatively simple to maintain and manage. At a temperature of 18-28 degrees, it is growing all year round. Before putting the Lucky Bamboo into the vase, remove the leaves at the base of the cuttings, and cut the base with a sharp knife into oblique cuts. The cut edges should be smooth to increase the absorption area of water and nutrients.

After the hydroponic Lucky Bamboo takes root, it is not suitable to change the water. After the water evaporation decreases, the water can only be added in time. Frequent water changes can easily cause the yellow branches to wither. In order to prevent the Lucky Bamboo from growing excessively, do not apply chemical fertilizers. It is best to inject a few drops of brandy into the bottle every 3 weeks or so, and add a small amount of nutrient solution to keep the leaves green. Do not place the hydroponic Lucky Bamboo near the TV or where it is often blown by air conditioners or electric fans to prevent the tip and edge of the leaf from being dried by the wind.
