Family potted green plants and flowers generally grow hindered after 2-3 years of planting. This is because, after a few years of potting, the roots of the plants are restricted to the flower pots, and the root system is too dense, insufficient nutrients, soil compaction and pests and diseases, etc., which will affect the growth of the plants. In the above situation, the only solution is to replace the flower pot and  soil.

The main content of repotting is to remove old soil, replace with new cultivation soil, add base fertilizer, and remove old roots to give potted flowers a new environment. After repotting, it can promote active vegetative growth, increase the germination rate of plants, and bring vigorous vitality to potted plants. However, if the repotting is not good, it will also bring potential risks to the potted plants, especially for some diseased and weak seedlings, which will accelerate its death.

For potted flowers, the best time to repot is usually in spring and autumn, that is, when buds begin to expand and new buds have not yet developed. After the flower buds are formed, the plant has basically matured, and it has returned to vegetative growth. At this time, the new buds have not yet formed. Just at this time, the repotting ramets can stimulate and quickly form new buds within a month.

At this time, the temperature is acceptable, and the plants are still growing slowly. By November, the new shoots are already very large. After a winter of dormancy until the spring, it is difficult for the shoots to grow. For flowers with fleshy roots, such as Clivia and orchids, the fleshy roots must be washed and dried before repotting.

The bottom of the new flowerpot should be filled with broken pieces or ceramsite, which can play a role in ventilation and water leakage. After that, add an appropriate amount of flower soil to the bottom, then put the plant in and add new soil, and compact the pot soil by hand to make the new soil and the plant tightly combined.

The potted plants that have just been repotted should be watered thoroughly at one time and placed in a shaded place for about 3-5 days before they can gradually see the sun. After the plants slowly adapt to the new environment, they can be maintained normally.
