Tulips are world-famous bulbous flowers, which can be potted for appreciation. Its propagation methods are divided into ball and sowing. Generally, bulbs are commonly used for propagation. So, how to grow tulip bulbs?

1. Seed bulb treatment

Before the tulips are planted, the bulbs need to be treated with low temperature, 5℃ or 9℃ is the most suitable and can be planted directly.

2. Planting time
Tulips are generally planted in October each year.In this way, the most beautiful flowers can bloom from March to May of the following year.

3. Pot soil preparation
Tulips need loose and fertile soil. Good drainage is important for root growth and respiration. Acidic soil is also very helpful for plant development. Generally, garden soil, leaf humus soil and river sand are mixed to prepare. The proportion of garden soil is large, and the river sand is not too much. In addition, you can add a little compost to increase nutrients.

4. Choose pots for potted plants
It is best to choose wide-mouth pots for soil culture, 10-15cm diameter flowerpots to plant 1-2 bulbs, and 18-20cm flowerpots to plant 3-5 bulbs per pot. The top of the bulbs should be flush with the soil surface when planting. After planting, put it in a cool place for observation for about 3-5 days, and then pour thoroughly water and put it outdoors for maintenance.

5. Daily management
Generally, the tulip is watered once immediately after planting, and then the soil is kept moist until the tulip germinates. After the tulip sprouts are unearthed, a thin liquid fertilizer can be applied once every 10 days, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizer can be applied once more before the buds bloom. Always keep the pot soil moist and place it in a sunny place.

Tips:
The storage conditions of tulip bulbs directly affect the differentiation of flower buds in the bulbs and the flowering time of the plants. The bulbs after harvest should be placed in a ventilated, dry and cool place as much as possible. If conditions permit, place the bulbs in a cold storage at 15-17℃ during the hot season from July to August, and the bulbs will develop smoothly and promote the differentiation and development of flower buds. If the bulbs are placed at a high temperature above 35°C, flower buds will be aborted and developmental abnormalities will occur.
