Winter is approaching, almost all green plants stop growing and enter dormancy, waiting for the arrival of the next spring, jasmine is no exception. How to take good care of the jasmine in winter so that it will grow and bloom more in the coming year? I suggest you start with the following points.

1. Replenish phosphorus and potassium fertilizer once
At this time, adding phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to the soil of planted jasmine is not for flowering, but for rearing roots. In winter, the stems and leaves on the surface of the jasmine soil layer basically do not grow, but the root system will still grow. Potassium fertilizer helps the rhizome grow, so adding a bit is beneficial to root cultivation. If the local temperature is already low, and the jasmine leaves are not green, yellow or fall off, don't add fertilizer.

2. Prune the branches
If your location is in the south, you can cut the jasmine flower once when the lowest temperature is below ten degrees. Prune the branches that are too tender and too long, and the diseased branches, weak branches, overlapping branches, and inner branches must also be trimmed. If your location is in the north, you can simply prune the branches that are too long, tender, or diseased before winter, and then do the next pruning when the spring is about to come.

3. Antifreeze and hibernation
When the lowest temperature reaches about five degrees, the jasmine flowers must be kept indoors to prevent freeze-dried branches or entire plants from freezing to death. Especially don't be blown by the cold wind for a long time. After entering the room, do not place jasmine flowers in a warm place, which will affect dormancy.
Especially in the northern regions, it is best to find a relatively cooler place and keep the temperature at 5-15 degrees. If the jasmine is not dormant in the greenhouse in winter, the growth and flowering performance in the coming year will not be very good. So dormancy is the natural law of some plants, and it is good to let jasmine dormant in winter.

4. Sufficient light
Jasmine loves sunlight, whether it is in the vigorous growth period or the dormant period, it should be placed in a place with sufficient sunlight for maintenance as much as possible. In particular, the jasmine that is overwintering outdoors, placed in a place with sufficient sunlight and leeward, will not necessarily freeze to death by a few degrees below zero.

5. Watering
In winter, jasmine should be watered less and the potting soil should be kept in a relatively dry state, not too humid, to prevent rotten roots or root frostbite. Watering should be carried out in the morning when the weather is fine. If the weather is bad, do not water. Do not water when the temperature drops suddenly.

6. No fertilization
Do not fertilize the jasmine in winter. When the temperature is low, it is in a dormant state and grows very slowly. Fertilization will increase the burden on the roots and affect the growth and health of the root system. In particular, jasmine flowers whose leaves have fallen out or the leaves have turned yellow and do not grow buds must not be fertilized. If the jasmine flowers in the house are not dormant in the heating room in winter, and can still grow branches and leaves, you can apply a little nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium balanced compound fertilizer every month. The concentration must be controlled well and not too thick. If there is no fertilization for a long time, symptoms of malnutrition will appear, which will directly affect the growth and flowering of the next year.

7. Increase humidity in heating rooms
If the jasmine flower is maintained in a heated room and the growth does not stop, spray a little water mist on the leaf surface and the surrounding area every day to increase the air humidity. Otherwise, it may cause yellow leaves, curling leaves, and falling leaves due to low air humidity, which will affect the growth of jasmine.
However, jasmine flowers dormant in a low temperature environment do not have this problem.

It is recommended that potted jasmine flowers can be put to dormancy in a low temperature place, and simple care is enough. During the dormant period, watering and fertilization are basically not considered, just remember to check its growth status for ten days or half a month.
